The Family Legacy

Sunridge Nurseries was founded on the idea of service and innovation. It began as a dream—more of a mission, really—of one man, Glen Stoller, to bring to the market the finest grape stock available in the world.

"A vineyard is something that doesn't go away," says Glen. "It's like a monument. After you plant it, you have to look at it for 20, maybe 30 years or so. A grower may plant just one vineyard in his lifetime, and I want to make sure that everything is done right. His success is our success."

And for 40 years, the dedication to service, constant innovation and improvement has led to exceptional product. This has all combined to move the company from a local nursery to a global supplier of grapevines.

History

After years of experience in the grape nursery stock industry, Glen and Terrie Stoller founded Sunridge Nurseries in 1977. Sunridge Nurseries' primary business is the propagation and grafting of grape nursery stock. Subsequently, we have pioneered and developed scientific techniques and cultural practices making us the experts in this field.

In the 1980s, Sunridge experienced tremendous growth when phylloxera began to invade premier wine grape vineyards of Sonoma and the Napa Valley. Sunridge had the solution — high quality, phylloxera-resistant rootstocks. In the ensuing years, Sunridge has continued to supply only the highest quality of rootstocks to grape growers, through several expansions and additions to their modern, state-of-the-art facilities.

Sunridge continues to lead the industry in efforts to improve the quality of grape nursery stock. "Quality is our number one priority," says Glen, "with service a close second." This philosophy, he believes, is what has established Sunridge as the leading standard in the industry.

Located in Bakersfield, at the southern end of the San Joaquin Valley, Sunridge has the advantage of phylloxera-free sandy soils with a long growing season. With more than 600 acres of certified rootstock, scionwood increase blocks and outdoor nursery blocks, Sunridge is well positioned to produce certified benchgrafts and rootings to meet its expanding customer needs. The nursery's growing, grafting and storage facilities now total more than 300,000 square feet.

Recently Sunridge invested in a growing area that is ultra clean. It will enable us to provide rootstock that is the cleanest in the industry. This is just one of the ways we strive to stay ahead of the needs of the industry, and to give our customers exactly what they need when they need it.
